Overview of class

POLISH 358-1 is designed to help enhance students' speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills in Polish at an advanced level. In this course, we will watch hit Polish comedy, 1670, a satire on the Polish nobility in the 17th century. With each episode, we will exam the history and culture of Poland, while also reflecting on how the show is actually a commentary on contemporary Polish society. Through a variety of speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills, students will learn how to describe characters and characterization, comment on current events, and speak with authority about major Polish historical phenomena.
