Overview of class

This seminar will study contemporary queer and trans Asian American aesthetics, placing particular emphasis on the role art and performance play in the making and reshaping of queer and trans Asian American lifeworlds. Artists and authors studied may include Ryka Aoki, Tseng Kwong Chi, Mitsky, Reza Abdoh, Wu Tseng, Oscar yi Hou, Viet Le, Dean Sameshima, Tina Takemoto, Ping Chong, and Candice Lin. Readings will be artist writing, scores, scripts, and some criticism.
