Overview of class

This course is designed to guide students through the process of writing structurally and creatively rewarding, narrative short screenplays that can become producible films. With an eye toward production considerations, we explore dramatic principles that are applicable to multiple formats of narrative screenwriting, from the initial premise, through character exploration and outlining, to drafting and revising their work. Students will write two short films and revise one of them. They will also practice giving and receiving critical feedback on their work and the work of classmates.

Class Materials (Required)

Final Draft screenwriting software ($99 for student version). Final Draft is required and there is a free version and a student discount version that students may investigate.
