Overview of class
This course introduces the history of modern Europe from the origins of the 1789 French Revolution to the present day. In order to understand the most significant transformations of this period, we will study themes including: nations, empires, the world wars, communism, fascism/Nazism, the European Union, and global migration. The course will give special attention to Europe's global entanglements and ask how Europe has shaped and been shaped by the rest of the world. Students ultimately will leave better equipped to understand our world today.

Remember the history of Europe and its global entanglements since 1750; Evaluate historical scholarship about how Europe has shaped and been shaped by the rest of the world; Relate present-day events to the longer history of Europe and world; Construct a historical argument related to the course content and communicate it in writing
