Overview of class

Will examine a wide range of artworks made in response to the AIDS epidemic, with a particular emphasis on the punkier work. Rage, transgression, mourning. Derek Jarman, Bruce LaBruce, Vaginal Davis, Kathy Acker, Sarah Schulman, George Kuchar, Curt McDowell, Cookie Meuller, Glenn Ligon, Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick, Isaac Julien, Felix Gonzalez Torres, Hervé Guibert, Reza Abdoh, Ron Athey, David Wojnarowicz, Jamaica Kincaid, General Idea, etc.
