Overview of class

Music Theatre scene study allows students to practice combining the elements of acting, singing, physicality, and movement into a cohesive piece of storytelling. Students will collaborate with scene partners, apply direction, utilize dramatic and musical analysis, and explore both classic and contemporary pieces from the musical theatre canon. Over the quarter, students will rehearse and present two assigned scenes with different assigned partners for each scene. Students will be expected to rehearse with their scene partners for a minimum of three hours a week outside of class time. Students will not be asked to purchase costumes or props but will provide light costume pieces and props as needed from their own wardrobes.
