Overview of class
Spring quarter is dedicated to textual analysis, recognizing internal impulses and nurturing leadership skills within the ensemble. We will develop the tools needed to navigate an audition room in a confident and prepared manner. An emphasis on physical specificity, emotional availability and psychological development will be present throughout.
Registration Requirements
Set as student specific permission numbers, have fulfilled freshman prereq., be a theater major
Learning Objectives
To learn the basic principles of acting, with an emphasis on the necessity and utility of observation. To have a greater facility to observe on stage and in preparation for stage work. To have a basic critical grasp and capacity to utilize the objective-action approach to acting. To have an understanding of the basic tools of the actor. To form a functioning ensemble with the class.
Class Materials (Required)
Actors are required to keep a handwritten or digital journal. All other course materials will be provided by the instructor
