Overview of class
This course introduces students to the cultural history of international cinema from the 1950s to the end of the 20th century We will survey a wide range of films beginning in the aftermath of World War II and progressing to present debates about cinema in the digital era. The course is both an introduction to some key filmmakers and national film industries, as well as an introduction to debates in film history and criticism.
Learning Objectives
Students should have a broad understanding of the trajectory of the history of world cinema from the end of WWII until the end of the 20th century.
