Overview of class

A study of history can provide us with significant context and knowledge so we can understand and evaluate today's journalism — and how it may evolve in the future.

Journalism, through the acts of seeking the truth and sharing information with large audiences, is essential to the life of our communities. As a great writer said, we depend upon the media for a view of reality upon which the citizens can act.

This course will examine key ideas and people involved in the development and evolution of journalism, along with projections for the future.
