Overview of class

We will develop fundamental concepts of probability and statistical theory, with applications. Topics include sample spaces, probability measures, conditional probability, independence, random variables, distributions, expected values, variance, and limit theory. In this section of the course, we will also consider how these concepts arise in modern data science. The sequels (320-2,3) emphasize statistical inference.

Registration Requirements

Prerequisites/Co-requisites--Stat 228/Math 235 or Math 226-0 (Sequences and Series) and Math 230-2 (Multivariable Integral Calculus), and an introductory statistics course
