Overview of class
Electroacoustic characteristics of hearing aids, selection of individual and group amplification systems, and client management. Lecture and laboratory. Prerequisites: CSD 423-0 or consent of instructor.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Describe hearing aid types, component parts and systems
2. Describe and conduct measures of hearing aid electroacoustic performance
3. Describe hearing aid candidacy in adults
4. Describe hearing aid fitting considerations in adults
5. Describe how to evaluate hearing aid benefit
6. Describe factors to consider in counseling new hearing aid wearers.
Evaluation Method
Based on demonstration of active learning including the following: assignments, lab practical exam/final project, quizzes, written exams, class participation. Grading is based on the ABC scheme.

Class Notes
This course covers the knowledge and skills required to select, fit, adjust, and validate hearing aids. In the first half of the class, we review hearing aid technology and the decisions based on that technology. In the second half of the class, we consider fitting and adjustment of the hearing aid.
