Overview of class
This course prepares students for upcoming advanced Spanish courses while discussing current topics in the Spanish-speaking world, which serves as an entry point for students to explore how past events have shaped the current circumstances of Latin America, Spain, and the Latinx community in the U.S. Students will develop a critical awareness of their language abilities. There will be an emphasis on reading and writing skills for Spanish heritage learners who have acquired Spanish listening and speaking skills at home and in their communities. Students will broaden their personal histories as Latinos/as/xs, literacy skills, and registers of use.
