Overview of class

Political Science 442 is a graduate seminar devoted to understanding the organization of world politics. It is not strictly about international organizations (IOs), though a number of assigned readings focus on the design and behavior of IOs and their roles in shaping outcomes in world politics. Rather, the seminar explores how different analytical traditions and methodological approaches help us explain puzzling phenomena related to the social organization of world politics. The readings you'll encounter in this seminar will explore organizational forms, stability and change, efficacy and dysfunction, among other themes in the study of world politics.
