Overview of class

This course will focus on the role of the dramaturg as researcher and collaborator in the theatrical profession. Students will work on applying research to real world production situations, and they will practice writing for different audiences (Artistic Directors, subscription audiences, student groups, etc.) There will be guest speakers during the quarter, to provide some insight into the profession of dramaturgy as it is currently being practiced. For their final project, each student will create either an actor packet or study guide for a production of their choice.
