Overview of class
An introduction to scientific thinking as applied to Communication Sciences and Disorders. Topics to be covered include the scientific method, hypotheses versus predictions, the purpose of data collection, previous evidence, and scientific argumentation.

Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, students should be able to…
1) describe the primary steps of the scientific method
2) distinguish a hypothesis from a prediction
3) distinguish between two purposes for data collection: discovery and hypothesis testing
4) identify previous evidence for a hypothesis
5) integrate previous evidence for a hypothesis from multiple sources
6) generate a conceptual experiment to test a hypothesis-driven prediction
