Overview of class

The performance of American song repertoire.

Registration Requirements

The class is open to juniors, seniors and graduate students. There is no permission number required for the class.

Learning Objectives

The objective of the class is to widen the students' knowledge of American song repertoire.

Teaching Method

Each student will be assigned 3 or 4 songs to sing in class. They will coach each song with me privately before performing for their peers in class. The songs need to be well learned, but do not need to memorized.

Evaluation Method

The students will be evaluated on the level of their preparation and performance of the assigned repertoire. Attendance is required at all classes, with the exception of illness, family emergency or travel for auditions/performances.

Class Materials (Required)

There are no class materials for the students to purchase. All of the music to be studied is either in the public domain, available through the Northwestern Library or in my private library. Students will be provided with a copy of any score that is not readily available.
