Overview of class

Narratives about teens are thrilling, complex, and widely popular. In this class, students will tap into their experience of being a teen, explore dramatic and comedic tropes, and write exciting teen-centered stories for the screen and stage. Works we may explore include Never Have I Ever, Euphoria, Lady Bird, Pen15, Grown-ish, and Peerless. The course will be workshop centered, which means that during class, we'll regularly read classmates' script pages aloud and share feedback. Writing exercises and reading assignments will guide students through the stages of writing, revising, and completing an original television pilot, short film, or play.
