Overview of class

This course is dedicated to the great Russian poet, a Nobel-Prize winner, Boris Pasternak (1890-1960). We will be reading all poems from his celebrated book My Sister - Life, as well as his later poems, including the cycle from his novel Doctor Zhivago. Moreover, we'll read some of Pasternak's poetic translations, in order to observe his great contribution to world poetry in Russian. The goal of this course is to understand the place of Pasternak's poetry in the 20th century and its influence on the generations to come.
