Overview of class
This course is an introduction to the biography and major works of Karl Marx. The seminar will also make forays into the development of Marxist thought by Gyorgy Lukacs, the Frankfurt School, and Antonio Gramsci.

Learning Objectives
An understanding of Marxist thought, it's place in the nineteenth century, and subsequent developments.
Evaluation Method
Assessment will include a presentation, weekly response papers, and a final paper that construes the student's research in a Marxist framework.
