Overview of class

This course will develop students' ability to see and discuss light with an established point of view within a context of design for the stage. The course will explore elements and principles of light through visual and verbal presentations. Students will learn to develop conceptual lighting design ideas based on text analysis, research, and various creative steps a lighting designer completes in order to develop a design.

Learning Objectives

Develop students' ability to see and discuss light with an established point of view in context of stage lighting design.
Develop a conceptual lighting design based on textual analysis and endure the process a lighting designer takes to develop a design.

Evaluation Method

Critique based class - Evaluation through discussion and presentation.
