Overview of class
This class will focus on the concepts and techniques that accompany sound for animation. It will cover the evolution of sound practices for animation and the methods that it has pioneered. Lectures, readings, and projects will give students a working knowledge of how to approach the range of styles available for animated films.

Learning Objectives
From this course, students will:
- Understand the post-production sound workflow for animation
- Develop technical skills to edit, process, and mix audio in Pro Tools
- Exhibit creative sound design in their work
Class Materials (Required)
- All readings will be provided through Canvas.
- Software: Students are required to use Pro Tools for class assignments, which is available in the classroom lab. Students who wish to use Pro Tools on their own computer can get an EDU subscription for $9.99/month.
- Hardware: Students should have over ear, closed back headphones, such as the Sony MDR 7506. Students must have at least one external hard drive, preferably a second one to act as backup.
