Overview of class

Development of specialized clinical skills in the student's area of clinical focus via accumulation of a minimum of 35 clock hours in clinical skill development. Approval of the clinical specialization plan by the SLP-D committee is required.

Registration Requirements

None. This is the first course of the four-course series.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. Clearly articulate their professional goals and experiences to a variety of audiences
2. Manage their personal career development strategy
3. Discuss ways to effectively manage competing demands for time and energy
4. Establish and maintain a thorough and professional online presence

Evaluation Method

This course is designed to support the student's career development and acquisition of specialized skills. Assessments include reflection essays, an e-portfolio, group discussions, and the accumulation of a minimum of 35 hours in a clinical skill development area.
