Overview of class

This course will review the foundations of Western art music history alongside broader currents of world history. The aim is to provide non-music majors a base-level knowledge of selected important composers, works, and musical periods. The additional focus of the class will be to examine politics, culture, and technology to contextualize these key mile-markers of music history.
