Overview of class
This course will explore how media history has influenced the world we live in today. Students will examine who has had the power and ability to tell the stories that shape people's lives, who has consumed those stories, who has been affected by the stories and whose stories have been neglected or distorted. Along the way, we will learn how journalists have challenged governments and other powerful institutions. The course will pay special attention to journalists who have inspired and entertained audiences and whose work still has meaning as we seek to understand our rapidly changing media landscape.
