Overview of class

This is a hands-on practical documentary video production class that places an emphasis on nonfictional field production. The course combines the theory of journalistic documentary production, research/pre-production and practical production/post-production elements. Demonstrations, screenings, readings, lectures and class discussions prepare students to produce their own journalistic documentary. Students will be required to complete the production elements working as both parts of a group and autonomously. This course places an emphasis on research, planning, and writing skills, which are deemed essential for successful journalistic video production.
