Overview of class
In this course, we will read and discuss both classic and recent research literature related to the topic of "theory of mind," which refers to the cognitive capacity to reason about the mental states of others. As an advanced research seminar, this class will be heavily weighted toward reading and discussion of empirical and theoretical papers in psychology and related fields. Students will be required to contribute consistently to in-class discussions and to submit weekly responses to the assigned readings. Final evaluation will be based primarily on a substantial research paper submitted at the end of the quarter.
