Overview of class
Introductory survey of the history of Africans and their descendants across the globe. Beginning with some background on African civilizations prior to European colonialism, the course will chart the encounters between Africa and Europe, the movements of "Africans" to the Americas and elsewhere, and the development of black communities inside and outside of Africa.
