Jonathan Vincent Nall
Jon Nall is a licensed attorney with a background in employment law, regulatory affairs and education. In his current role at FMLASource, Jon coaches human resource professionals on FMLA, ADA and state leave issues. Prior to joining FMLASource, Jon served as Senior Director of Admissions and Regulatory Affairs for Capital Education, where he consulted with over twenty colleges and universities on the development of admissions policies, processes and degree programs for adult learners. Over the past twenty years, Jon has regularly taught business and law courses in both online and on-ground formats at a number of institutions, including Dominican University, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the New York Institute of Technology.

Overview of class

This course reviews policy, procedural guidelines, and supervisory practices relating to hiring, promotion, compensation, discharge, employment-at-will, and affirmative-action issues. The course is designed to equip current and future managers with the ability to anticipate and prevent discrimination complaints related to protected characteristics such as race, sex, national origin, age, religion, and disability. Carries business credit. This course is conducted completely online. A technology fee will be added to tuition.

Explain employment law concepts to a non-expert audience
Apply employment law concepts in current or future roles as manager and/or employee
Create employee policies that are legally compliant and further business objectives
Critique current laws regulating the employment relationship
Evaluate proposed employment laws based on their potential impact on the employment relationship
Argue ethically and persuasively in favor of or against proposed employment legislation
