Overview of class

A retrospective critique of curricular and extracurricular performance work in the Acting for Screen module. Course will involve continued advanced scene work, as well as an evaluation of performer's range and capabilities as they apply to tomorrow's industry. Various industry guests will speak to the practical steps of putting together a career as an actor in film and television. Course will culminate in a final, actor-driven short film and a self-edited actor reel for real-world use.

Registration Requirements

Must be a senior or junior enrolled in the Acting for Screen module with pre-requisites RTVF 190 and RTVF 368/THEA 376 Intro to Acting for Screen or RTVF 369/THEA 377 Experimental Screen Performance. Please e-mail instructor Spencer Parsons (s-parsons@northwestern.edu) for a permission number.

Learning Objectives

Develop professional self-presentation for acting film/tv/advertising industries and demonstrate mastery of skills in acting for screen.

Teaching Method

Assign in-class acting exercises and presentations of reel and portfolio materials, as well as a major at-home/on-location shooting assignment.

Evaluation Method

Class participation and engagement in critiques, in-class scene work, out-of-class film projects, compiling of material and reel production.
