Overview of class
Development of specialized clinical skills in the
student's area of clinical focus via accumulation of a minimum of 35 clock hours in
clinical skill development. Approval of the clinical specialization plan by the SLP-D
committee is required.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
· Use principles of storytelling and improvisation to clearly articulate their professional goals and experiences to a variety of audiences
· Manage their personal job search strategy from initial identification of opportunities through accepting an offer
· Establish and maintain a thorough and professional online presence
· Discuss ways to effectively manage competing demands for time and energy

Grades will be based on the completion of required assignments and participation:
· Reflection Essay and Updated Goal Statement: 50 points
· TED Talk Analysis: 75 Points
· Residency Presentation Reflection: 25 points
· Action Plan Project: 75 points
· Job Description Analysis: 75 points
· CV: 25 points
· Online Portfolio: 125 points
· Participation: 85 points

Grading Scale
The first three quarters of this class will be graded as a satisfactory/continuing course grade. At the completion of the course sequence (winter quarter), you'll receive a letter grade that reflects the grade earned for all your work in the course:
· A = 94-100%
· A- = 90-93%
· B+ = 87-89%
· B = 83-86%
· B- = 80-82%
· C+ = 77-79%
· C = 73-76
· C- = 70-72
· F = < 70
Late Work
Grades will be reduced by 5% for each 24-hour period it's late. Assignments will not be accepted more than 72 hours after the due date.
