Enrollment in the class is by audition only and limited to 6 students.

Learning Objectives

The objective of the class is exposure to standard orchestral section playing, with a focus on orchestral style, section balance and group intonation.

Evaluation Method

Evaluation is based on the quality of preparation and successful performance in the classroom setting.

Class Materials (Required)

materials are provided, and are limited to the trumpet parts for the orchestral works being studied. Most are public domain and available through the IMSLP website. Parts not in the public domain will be provided.

Class Materials (Suggested)

recordings of the works being studied, usually available in the Internet from Spotify, YouTube or Apple Music.

Class Notes

personal part study, score study and recording study, along with rehearsals with others registered for the class ensures success in this class.
