Performer in master classes with Andrés Segovia, Oscar Ghiglia, and José Tomás. Studied with Robert Guthrie and Oscar Ghiglia.

Master of Music Guitar Performance major

Learning Objectives

Students will be able to analyze methodological materials in terms of their visual presentations, theoretical and technical explanations, sequencing, and repertoire.
Students will be able to teach basic technical and music concepts to beginning students.
Students will be able to perform, grade, and assign appropriate etudes from the standard literature.

Teaching Method

Lectures and performing materials from historical methods.
Review and analysis of modern beginning methods.
Teach beginning "mini" lessons during class.
Continue analysis and performance of the etude literature for guitar.

Evaluation Method

Written method reviews for each of the sources assigned.
The creation of 10 beginning lesson plans which will include the stated goals for each lesson and an explanation of techniques taught and materials presented.
Lesson observations with beginning students of all ages.
Performance of selected etudes
