Overview of class

This experiential course is designed as an investigation of the middle school choral program and its participants. It will provide you with an overview of the multifaceted nature of choral teaching and learning, as well as serve as a foundation for the construction of your own beliefs and practices as a teacher. Students will experience application of their studies through assigned projects and the practicum placement which shall be determined at the beginning of the class term. The class will include a special focus on using technology as a teaching tool and effective teaching in a Virtual Learning Environment. Readings, assignments and classwork will provide you with practical tools to ensure that what you do on and off the podium reflects best practices to develop an outstanding, thriving choral program applicable in any teaching format and at any educational level.

This class will also integrate edTPA responsibilities relating to Illinois State Teacher Certification Requirements.
