Overview of class
Static and interactive presentations of statistical data are transforming how readers experience the news. In this course, students will learn how to analyze and present data using available tools, anticipate how readers will visually perceive and make inferences from data graphics, and recognize where they may be prone to misinterpreting statistics. Students will develop a "data state of mind" as they monitor news from various sources with a focus on deepening coverage through data journalism. They will clean, interpret and present their analyses within the context of stories they want to develop in this class and beyond.
