Overview of class
This course surveys an array of cultural productions to examine representations of race, gender, and sexuality. We will engage with different forms of texts such as novels, short stories, films, exhibits, photographs, and performance to examine how these categories of identity are represented, articulated, and given meaning. In exploring constructions of race, gender, and sexuality, we will pay particular attention to the ways these artistic mediums enable different forms of self-making and embodied liberatory practice at the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality.
