Overview of class
As an introduction to the basic tools of resources in music research, the class includes study of general library resources, bibliographies of composers, music, music literature, and music sources. Students will experience a broad view of music reference tools and editions of music. Key projects in the class are providing an appropriate bibliography for a selected research topic, and selecting an appropriate performing edition for practical use based on a variety of sources.
