Overview of class

The population of the United States is becoming ever-more diverse. According to the Census Bureau, racial and ethnic minorities will comprise a majority of the population within our lifetimes by 2042. This course will explore how diversity shapes policy debates and choices in the U. S., and also how policies in turn contribute to racial and ethnic diversity. The focus will be on the social issues facing our country now and in the future. We will cover such topics as immigration reform, school choice, residential segregation, and criminal justice.
